Black Friday 2026 is November 27, and the gaming PC deals worth buying are the ones you can check against a price you wrote down earlier. Graphics card and memory prices have climbed all year, so a big percentage off can still leave you above summer pricing. Compare prebuilts against their parts lists, and start tracking prices now.
Every November, the sale banners promise the lowest prices of the year. In 2026 that promise sits on top of a market that's been moving the other way. TrendForce's latest forecast has conventional DRAM contract prices rising another 10 to 15% in the fourth quarter, with NAND flash, the memory inside SSDs, up 15 to 20%. Graphics cards have climbed too. There will still be real deals, but the discount on a banner tells you little until you know what the same thing cost in September.
Why Black Friday 2026 Looks Different
Memory is the root of it. AI data centers are soaking up memory production, and the same factories make the VRAM on your graphics card and the RAM in your PC. Our RAMageddon breakdown covers how prices got here, and nothing in TrendForce's fourth-quarter outlook points to relief before the holidays.
Graphics cards show it most. This is where current cards sat on Tom's Hardware's GPU price tracker on October 8, 2026, next to their launch prices.
| Graphics card | Launch MSRP | Lowest US price, October 8, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| RTX 5070 | $549 | $799 |
| RTX 5070 Ti | $749 | $1,179 |
| RTX 5080 | $999 | $1,599 |
| RX 9070 XT | $599 | $831 |
Those numbers moved fast. In early August, Tom's Hardware's GPU pricing report listed the RTX 5080 at $1,256 and the RX 9070 XT at $719. The same report noted a "lack of notable below-MSRP discounts in major sales events such as Black Friday or Prime Day," and its author wrote, "I wouldn't count on seeing anything truly jaw-dropping." A 20% Black Friday cut on an RTX 5080 at today's price would still land above where it sat in August.
Write Down Prices Now
Start before November 27. Pick the two or three systems or cards you'd buy, note today's price with the date, and screenshot the full spec list. PCPartPicker keeps price history for individual parts, and the Tom's Hardware tracker updates graphics card prices regularly.
When the sale goes live, compare it against your own numbers. The crossed-out price on a listing is whatever the seller says the item used to cost, and your October screenshot shows the real price.
What to Check Before You Buy a Black Friday Prebuilt
The video covers what we look for when we spec a prebuilt, and the same checks apply to any deal you're weighing, ours included.
The Exact Graphics Card, VRAM Included
Listings love a model number. Check the full name, because the RTX 5060 Ti comes in 8GB and 16GB versions, and that difference decides whether the card is a 1080p machine or a 1440p one. Our VRAM guide puts 8GB at 1080p esports and older games, and 16GB at 1440p.
A CPU That Keeps Up With the Card
As the video puts it, some prebuilts sell you "a big number in the specs" and then pair it with a processor that holds the graphics card back. Look for a current-generation CPU matched to the card's tier. A high-end card wants a chip like the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, and a budget card is fine with less.
A Platform With Somewhere to Go
AM5 is supported through 2029, so an AM5 system can take a newer CPU later. AM4 is older and close to the end of its upgrade road, and Intel's LGA 1851 socket is on its way out, with Nova Lake, its replacement, due around the end of 2026. Our best gaming PC under $1,500 guide covers how that plays out at the budget end.
Power and Memory Headroom
Check the power supply's wattage and efficiency rating against the graphics card maker's official number. Our power supply guide lists the official figures for current RTX 50 and RX 9000 cards. On memory, 16GB covers most spec sheets, and our RAM guide explains why we’d go to 32GB for 4K or for streaming while you play.
Testing and Support
Look for how the system is tested before it ships and what support looks like after. Every META PCs build goes through OCCT Enterprise burn-in testing and comes with lifetime US-based support. Whoever you buy from, read the support and return terms before you check out, since sale pricing sometimes comes with different conditions.
What's Worth Buying This Black Friday
Complete prebuilts with current-generation parts are the category to watch most closely. Once a system is built, its price covers the RAM, the SSD and the graphics card together, so price the same parts list on the same day before you decide. If the prebuilt costs about the same as the parts, you're getting the assembly and testing for free, and that's a real deal.
Standalone graphics cards are harder to call. Tom's Hardware's view is that big discounts will mostly come down to pricing mistakes or combo bundles, so a bundle with a game or another part is likelier than a deep cut on the card itself. RAM and SSDs by themselves are the weakest bet, since TrendForce expects contract prices for both to keep rising through the fourth quarter. Buy the capacity you need when you need it. Holding out for a crash this quarter is a bet against TrendForce's own forecast.
Be wary of doorbusters built around older platforms or 8GB cards. A low headline price on an AM4 system or an 8GB card can be fine for 1080p esports, but if you play at 1440p or plan to upgrade the CPU, it's a short-term saving.
What a Well-Specced Prebuilt Looks Like
The NIGHT REAPER v6 is the build from the video, now with a Ryzen 7 9850X3D in place of the 9800X3D. It pairs that with an RTX 5080, 64GB of DDR5-6000, a 2TB NVMe drive, a META 360mm AIO and a META Gold 850W power supply in a Lian Li O11 Dynamic EVO RGB with our custom Night Reaper print. As of October 15, 2026, it’s listed at $5,579 on pre-order. Check the product page for current pricing and availability.
In the video, the 9800X3D version averaged 178 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p high, with 153 FPS 1% lows, and 75 FPS at 4K ultra. All of that was raw raster performance with no DLSS or FSR. Under a full stress-test load the CPU topped out at 82°C and the graphics card at 71°C. In games the CPU averaged 62°C. Our Night Reaper write-up goes through the rest of the results and the reasoning behind each part.
FAQ
When is Black Friday 2026?
Black Friday 2026 is Friday, November 27, the day after Thanksgiving on November 26. Cyber Monday follows on November 30. Retailers often start their sales earlier in the week, so track prices from October and compare when the sales begin.
Is Black Friday a good time to buy a gaming PC in 2026?
It can be, as long as you compare against prices you recorded beforehand. Graphics card and memory prices rose through 2026, so a large percentage off may still land above summer pricing. Complete prebuilts with current-generation parts are worth a close look, since their price covers the RAM, storage and graphics card together.
Will GPU prices drop on Black Friday 2026?
Deep cuts look unlikely, since Tom's Hardware noted a lack of notable below-MSRP discounts in recent major sales, and the RTX 5080 was listed at $1,599 on October 8, 2026, against a $999 launch price. Bundles and occasional pricing mistakes are more likely than large discounts.
Will RAM prices go down by Black Friday?
RAM prices are unlikely to fall by then, since TrendForce forecasts conventional DRAM contract prices rising 10 to 15% in the fourth quarter of 2026, with NAND flash for SSDs up 15 to 20%. Buy the memory you need rather than waiting for a holiday drop.
Should I buy a prebuilt or build my own on Black Friday?
Price both on the same day. Add up the parts list at that day's prices, then compare it with a prebuilt using the same parts. A prebuilt that comes in close to the parts total also saves you the assembly and testing, and with memory and graphics cards this expensive, the gap can be smaller than you'd expect.
